A charity exists to help people and must put all its money back into doing good. A CIC also helps the community but has more flexibility to run projects or small businesses to fund its work.

We chose to set up a CIC because we were creating something from scratch - a grassroots initiative. This structure gave us the flexibility to adapt quickly to changes, like during COVID, supporting charities and respond fast to the community’s needs.

 

In short: both exist to make a positive difference, just in slightly different ways!
